Chinatown

Chintown

Bangkok's Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in terms of population outside of China and is one of the most popular tourist destinations.

Accommodation in Bangkok in advance at the best price

The history of Chinatown in Bangkok dates back to the 17th century, when the Chinese began to move to Thailand in greater numbers in search of better living conditions. The migration peaked in the late 19th century, when Chinatown grew to its present size.

Chinatown extends from the wharf in Si Phraya to Sampheng Market near Wat Pho Temple.

Experience all the smells and tastes and China

A stroll through Chinatown is an experience for the olfactory and taste buds. The lively streets are filled with food shops, small businesses with all sorts of things, and every few meters you'll come across an eatery, restaurant or even an entire market.

Chinatown in Bangkok is one of the most authentic in the world and if you want to get a taste of the real China, then definitely head here.

Chinatown starts to come alive in the morning when restaurants, bistros and individual businesses open and teem with life until late into the night at the numerous markets.

Accommodation in Chinatown

The area may look a little scruffy at first glance, but it's safe and you'll find some really nice and cheap accommodation with good walking links to both Old Bangkok and the main train station.

For cheap guesthouses 22 eur per night for two, we recommend Pho Place right in the heart of Chinatown.
