The huge bear-like granite formation in the northeastern part of the island offers spectacular views of the turquoise sea and the La Maddalena archipelago.

The rock, battered by natural influences for more than 300 million years, stands on a 170-metre-high knoll and dominates the small peninsula that gave it its name. Capo d'Orso.

Roccia dell'Orso lies about 2 km from the popular resort of Palau and is one of the symbols of northern Sardinia.

Entrance fees and opening hours

Roccia dell'Orso is situated on private land and access to the viewpoint is charged and restricted.

How to get there

Bear Rock is only accessible by car, as there are no buses to the small resort of Capo d'Orso.

Below the peak you will find a free parking lot with a ticket office (google.com/maps), where you pay to enter the rock. From the car park, there is only a 300-metre path uphill.
